Meeting Room vs. Conference Room: The Differences

You are here: Home / Blog / Meeting Room vs. Conference Room: The Differences

Meeting rooms and conference rooms are often used interchangeably in Bali, even by the organisations and professionals that utilise them. Even though both of them have a lot of similarities, they also have notable differences. In this article, we will compare both types.

Differences Between a Conference Room and a Meeting Room in Bali

Meeting rooms and conference rooms may sound alike but there are several differences between them. We will explore the differences between meeting rooms and conference rooms below.

Meeting Rooms

Meeting rooms are often small rooms that are only big enough to accommodate about four individuals. In addition, these meeting rooms usually have only chairs and maybe a whiteboard or a projector, but lacking tables or having only one table in the center.

The purpose of meeting rooms is for brainstorming and collaboration sessions among a small group of people. Some fundamental technology or equipment may be ready for use in the meeting room as well. However, this compact space is mainly meant for interpersonal assignments and tasks.

In brief, if there are only fewer than four people who need to collaborate as a team or require a more intimate setting, a meeting room is necessary. You don’t always need a big conference room to result in a successful meeting.

Conference Rooms

You can only call a space a conference room when it has a considerable size which can fit a large number of attendees. There is a reason why “conference” is the synonym of “convention” because people will associate a conference room with a big room that can host a huge crowd who is attending a convention.

However, not all conference rooms in Bali have the size of a convention space that have hundreds or even thousands of seating. Still, a conference room tends to be larger than a meeting room with more than a dozen seatings and other equipment and amenities such as tables, high-speed internet, conferencing technology, AV components, presentation equipment, computers, and refreshment bars.

Generally, conference rooms are utilised for large or formal meetings. The larger room size and the higher number of seatings are what make conference rooms especially useful and effective for training, lectures, seminars, and workshops. There will be a professional or a leader conducting the meeting while speaking to the rest of the attendees.

Choosing the right type of room for your activities is pivotal to your productivity and meeting outcome. Most of the time a poor meeting does not mean that you have a subpar meeting agenda; it could be the problem of the type of room and the location you opt for.

Meeting rooms and conference rooms can usually be found in a coworking space in Bali. In a coworking community, you will have a more motivating ambiance and meet more like-minded individuals and businesses that will further contribute to the success of your meeting.
